On 19 October, the Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX) listed the first Green Bond under the EU’s post-Covid NextGenerationEU recovery plan. With a value of €12 billion, it becomes the largest Green Bond ever offered in the world. 11 times oversubscribed, demands exceeded €135 billion.
Last June, the Luxembourg Stock Exchange was already chosen to launch the first conventional bond under this plan, for an amount of 20 billion euros. NextGenerationEU, which aims to build a more resilient, greener and more digital Europe, plans to raise €250 billion in green bonds over the next five years. This would make the EU the world’s largest green bond issuer.
