À medida que as fronteiras mundiais voltam a estar abertas, a agência Luxembourg for Finance cruza o oceano Atlântico para chegar às terras ensolaradas do Brasil. Nesta edição da série “Building Bridges with”, abordamos as conexões entre o Luxemburgo e o Brasil, de modo a identificar de que forma as instituições financeiras podem aproveitar esses laços entre os dois países para promover seu crescimento e alcançar novos investidores no mundo todo.
Damos o pontapé inicial no evento com uma palestra do CEO da ANBIMA, a Associação Brasileira dos Mercados Financeiro e de Capitais. Em nosso primeiro painel, especialistas da PwC Luxembourg, JP Morgan Asset Management, e Santander Asset Management abordarão a estreita relação entre as indústrias de fundos do Brasil e do Luxemburgo, bem como analisarão como as empresas brasileiras e internacionais podem fazer uso desse vínculo para captar recursos e fazer investimentos a nível mundial.
Em seguida, será apresentado um painel que abordará a gestão patrimonial e o cenário bancário. Para este painel, contamos com a participação de Allen & Overy, Banco Bradesco Europa, e UBS que detalharão a oferta de Luxemburgo para os investidores brasileiros, bem como explicarão as vantagens de se estabelecer uma filial no Grão-Ducado do Luxemburgo.
Concluiremos o evento com uma entrevista entre o Banco Europeu de Investimento (European Investment Bank – EIB) e a Bolsa de Valores do Luxemburgo (Luxembourg Stock Exchange), que terá como objetivo desmistificar o mundo das finanças sustentáveis e discutir o tema da emissão de títulos sustentáveis.

As borders across the globe open up once again, Luxembourg for Finance is crossing the Atlantic to land in sunny Brazil. In this edition of our “Building Bridges with” series we look at the connections between Luxembourg and Brazil and how financial services can leverage these in order to grow their business and reach new investors across the globe.
We kick off the event with a keynote address by the CEO of ANBIMA, the Brazilian Financial and Capital Markets Association. In our first panel, experts from PwC Luxembourg, JP Morgan Asset Management, and Santander Asset Management will delve into the close relationship between the Brazilian and the Luxembourg fund industries and how both international and Brazilian players can draw upon it for cross-border fundraising and investing.
They are followed by a panel examining the wealth management and the banking landscape. For this panel, we are joined by Allen & Overy, Banco Bradesco Europa, and UBS who will detail Luxembourg’s offering for Brazilian investors, as well as the advantages of branching out to the Grand Duchy.
We close the event with an interview between the European Investment Bank and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, demystifying the sustainable finance universe and discussing the topic of issuing sustainable securities.
The sessions will be delivered with Portuguese/English subtitles.

Carlos André

Since October 2021, Carlos José da Costa André has been the CEO of Santander Asset Management Brazil and Vice-president of ANBIMA (Brazilian Association of Financial and Capital Markets Entities), graduated in Production Engineering from UFRJ, with an MBA in Finance from IBMEC-RJ and several specialization courses in Brazil and abroad.
Before joining Santander, he worked at Banco do Brasil for over 37 years, held several executive and leadership positions in the areas of Finance, Capital Markets and Asset Management, including Managing Director of BB Securities Ltd in London – England, Director of Fund Management and President of BB Gestão de Recursos DTVM SA, Vice-President of Financial Management and Investor Relations.
He served as Vice-President of ANBIMA from 2018 to 2020 and was part of the Executive Board of FEBRABAN (Brazilian Federation of Banks) between Jan/2021 and Apr/2021.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of Gerdau SA, Metalúrgica Gerdau SA, Seguradora Brasileira de Exportações-SBCE, Elopar and Banco Votorantim. He also served as chairman of the Fiscal Council of Ativos SA.

José Carlos H. Doherty has been CEO of the Brazilian Financial and Capital Markets Association (ANBIMA) since 2012. He is also chairman of the International Investment Funds Association (IIFA) and vice president of the Ibero-American Federation of Investment Funds (Fiafin). He is also a member of the Advisory Council of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in Brazil; he was a member of the B3 Advisory Board of the Corporate Sustainability Index (Cise) from 2013 to 2019 and chaired the IOSCO Affiliate Membership Consultative Committee (AMCC) from 2013 to 2018.
He joined ANBIMA in 2006 as Market Supervision Superintendent. Earlier, he worked in diverse organisations in Brazil and abroad, including Deutsche Bank, BankBoston, Bank of America, Brown Brothers Harriman, Brazilian Securities Commission (CVM) and São Paulo Stock Exchange (BOVESPA).
He holds a degree in economics from the Federal University of Brasília (UnB) and an Executive MBA in Finance from Insper in São Paulo. He has a Global Advanced Management Program (GAMP) certificate from Georgetown University (USA) and Esade (Spain).
Alexandre Gartner
Private Bank Head, Banco Bradesco Europa

Alexandre Gartner heads the Private Bank at Banco Bradesco Europa and is also part of the authorised management of the bank. Prior to his current role, he was the Chief Investment Officer at Bradesco Private Bank in Brazil overseeing USD 60 bn in client assets and earlier the Commercial Head for Ultra High and High Net Worth clients.
Alexandre had worked before for HSBC Private Bank in Brazil as the Chief Investment Officer and as the Business Head. Prior to moving to Private Banking, he worked for 20 years at European and Brazilian investment banks covering listed equities as a Research Analyst, Equity Strategist, Head of Research and Head of Equities. While covering clients in Brazil, US and Europe, he received 8 individual awards and 2 team awards by Institutional Investor and Latin Finance.
Alexandre holds an engineering degree from the Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro, an MBA from the University of Michigan Business School (Ross) and an executive MBA from ISE/IESE. He is currently a member of ABBL’s Private Banking Group and a former member of Anbima’s (Brazilian Bankers Association) Private Banking and Financial Analysts committees. He also served at the Supervisory Board at Apimec (Investment Analyst’s Association) and as a director of Planejar (CPF certifier in Brazil).
Gonçalo Guerrinha
Investor Relations Officer, European Investment Bank

Gonçalo Guerrinha is Investor Relations Officer at the European Investment Bank (EIB). The EIB is the world’s largest Multilateral Development Bank and a pioneer in the green bond sphere. The EIB launched the market’s first green bond, with its inaugural Climate Awareness Bond (CAB) in 2017, and remains the largest supranational green use-of-proceeds bond issuer in the world.
Gonçalo joined the EIB in 2017 and currently covers the Bank’s relationship with credit rating agencies, as well as with investors from a credit standpoint. Gonçalo is also an active contributor on the communication of EIB’s climate and sustainability strategy, both on the lending and funding sides.
Previously to the EIB, Gonçalo worked 12 years in banking and audit in Portugal, with experience in investor relations, risk management, trade & export finance, and financial analysis.
Gonçalo is a CFA charterholder since 2015 and has an academic background in Management with a specialisation in Finance.

Paula Redondo Pereira

Paula Redondo Pereira is Head of Regulatory Affairs at the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
With a strong legal background, Paula is an expert in capital markets law and regulation. She tracks legal and regulatory reforms at the national, European Union and international levels to anticipate barriers, but also opportunities for the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE) and Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX). Paula represents the LuxSE/LGX in several industry fora, such as the FESE – Federation of European Securities Exchanges, the WFE – World Federation of Exchanges and the ICMA – International Capital Market Association. Paula was a member of the European Commission Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance.
Before joining the LuxSE, Paula was a legal advisor at the CMVM – the Portuguese Securities Market Commission, and later became the head of cabinet and legal advisor to the Secretary of State for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal.
As a lawyer, Paula practiced at the Spanish law firm Uria Menéndez and the NY-based law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, representing, amongst other, LatAm issuers and underwriters in both public and private offerings of equity and debt securities.
Paula received her Law Degree from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, her LL.M. in International Business and Economic Law from Georgetown University and her Master in European Affairs from Universidade Catölica Portuguesa, where she was a guest professor until 201 9.
Paula was part of the WFE Women Leaders List for 2021, which aims to shine the spotlight on some of the talented and gifted women in the capital markets’ industry globally.
Matias Rubiolo

Matias Rubiolo is an Adviser for Luxembourg for Finance (LFF), currently serving as Head of the Iberia & LatAm Desk.
Matias role is to advise LFF and its stakeholders on the strategic orientation of the financial centre, specialising on the alternative assets side. He also advises financial services companies looking to develop their cross-border businesses via Luxembourg and on synergy creation with other key financial centres, with a focus on Iberia & Latin America.
Prior to joining LFF, Matias worked at PwC serving clients in the global asset and wealth management sector and at the European Investment Bank (EIB) in the Corporate Lending for Asia, LatAm & Sub-Saharan Africa unit. He is a Certified Public Accountant graduated from Universidad Nacional del Litoral (Argentina) and holds an MBA from Southampton Business School (UK).
Marc Tkatcheff

Marc Tkatcheff advises on general corporate and PE matters, including on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings and re-financings and corporate restructurings, both within a domestic and cross-border context and across all sectors.
Marc also heads Allen & Overy’s Luxembourg-Latin America desk, which addresses all inbound and outbound client demand into and from both Luxembourg and the Latin / South American regions.
In this respect, he is regularly solicited on various matters, including the structuring and setting up of Luxembourg retail and institutional investment funds, private wealth platforms and securitisation vehicles; listings and stock-exchange related work for all types of Luxembourg and foreign vehicles (including eurobonds); as well as more general corporate matters such as public and private company incorporations, restructurings and re-domiciliations to Luxembourg.
Cyril Zastawnik

Cyril Zastawnik joined UBS Europe SE, Luxembourg Branch in 2013 and is responsible for the family office segment in Luxembourg.
In this capacity, he and his team partner with global families, offering access to a wide range of financial services and investment banking solutions. During his 14 years tenure in London and Luxembourg, prior to joining UBS, he held various client management positions with JP Morgan Corporate and Investment Banking division (CIB).
Cyril holds a MAS in Finance from the University of Bern and MSc in Wealth Management from the Simon Business School at the University of Rochester, New York.
